[ Lengthy... A lot of words, just like talking to the man himself. But Yesod had mentioned something about the memories, and it'd be interesting to see how real they get.
For other people, rather than just themself. But that isn't important. ]
While it has not been long since our last encounter, I figure this was a fine opportunity to make good on my word. I did find a suitable venue that could allow us to mirror the social aspects of hunting without having to seek out smaller prey. [ dropping the link to the zoo/aquarium. ... i guess they can have a place for ppl too. ]
You have likely visited quite a few menageries in your time, but I thought it would be a good opportunity for you to see yourself in person. Surely, you will not reject me this time? Or, as in your words:
[ it's not even the same sticker, but listen. ]
- Callisto Regulus
P.S. If you are so inclined to hunt, however, perhaps we can make our own rules here?
[ It's one of those days in between storms and March has kept herself busy by healing anyone who's had... unfortunate luck with monsoon problems. And also convincing the maid cafe she works at to let her shelter all of the dogs she usually feeds, just until things settle down.
She's heading back to the base, isn't all that far from it, but in the spirit of one who is clumsy, she.
Trips.
Over what she thinks was maybe a rock or a tree root, but no, it's a bit too large for that, and she does manage to clear it entirely, but she also crashes unceremoniously on the ground instead of on. Siffrin.
[ It sure is, and as someone who's been tripped over Siffrin
sits up a little too quickly, back pressing against the tree she undoubtedly assumed a root might belong to, staring with one wide eye at her before slowly relaxing his shoulders and pulling his legs closer. Like this will fix what has already been done. ]
... Are you hurt?
[ This is... March. Yes, March. The girl with no memories who... likes cameras. ]
[ The weather really isn't improving. And of course there are some people who wish to go back to their homes, to nab more and move it to higher ground, to check on their businesses, and there's more property damage and now the quiet weird shortie has met her enough times at the base with a blanket and hot cocoa that she's reluctantly realized he's going to keep at it.
But not this time, hence this text. ]
I'm not going to be back at base for at least another five hours Don't bother waiting up
[ There. She'll be fine and she won't have to feel a vague pang of guilt for potentially keeping someone up until 3 or 4 in the morning. ]
[ Back later, huh... Siffrin counts on their hand and thinks, then nods to himself and replies. ]
[ And she very much will find him waiting anyway, without cocoa but still retaining the blanket, wide awake as he carves birds to pass the time, mumbling under their breathe. There's a pile of towels beside them as well, for all that hair of hers... Sorry, but Siffrin seems at peace this late at night. ]
[ Gebura isn't in the mood for a lot of things. To see people, downtrodden and lamenting decisions they either made or didn't. All of the blaming and self-deprecation. She doesn't want to get in the thick of it, so for the most part, she sticks to that dark, dark ocean, where she'd once told Siffrin she went to be alone.
It helps, vaguely. Enough to numb her thoughts a bit, to acknowledge that once again, a monster had rampaged, and people had been torn apart by it. How aggravatingly nostalgic.
She returns, eventually. There are things to do. She can focus on that.
... Or so she assumes, until she sees Siffrin, who she is not actively searching for (probably), but it's an odd sight to see that shorter figure walking with such an unsteady gait.
[ It's rare someone sneaks up on him, and when Siffrin swings around on his foot, dagger drawn and book clutched to his chest
the dagger slips from his hand and clatters against the farther wall harmlessly, Siffrin staring after it a moment before looking up at Gebura with a daze in their single eye, mouth slack as if exhausted, before the first closes and his body slackens towards the ground. Book with it. ]
[ there will be an extravagant invitation waiting in front of siffrin's door. decorated in what appears to be artificial flowers (and is that a small package of palmiers individually wrapped?), and beyond that is a wax-sealed envelope that awaits. the colors are striking with black, reds, and golds. when opened, it will reveal the following contents: ]
Sir Siffrin,
As the only comedy-impassioned individual that has ever managed to make me laugh, it would be an absolute shame if this event did not have you present. Rather, it would reflect terribly on me as the host of this event. As such, I look forward seeing you at the gala. If you require any additional inspiration...
You had once asked me what court was like, and I had answered it to be a dreadful place. However, I may be able to face the ghosts of my past were to be there.
Your presence has been summoned to the first annual royal gala, which will take place at the Ruby Room on the 10th day of September, the year 2078. Please come dressed appropriately, and do not forget a mask. *Though, not required for you. You already have half of one in a sense.
[ ... A dance... just like in the plays. Except there probably won't be a massacre led by the ill intentioned advisor seeking to overtake the throne whilst the hero mourns the mistakes they've made and eventually overcomes that guilt to vanquish their foe amidst the ruined ball. Though, that would be cool, even if Siffrin isn't sure who the hero would be in such a case.
Like the other envelope, this one is getting tapped to their wall, and they consider that maybe they should get? Something to pin them instead? Small, so it isn't hard to remove... No, this is fine. The shades are some of his favorite, too, and the palmiers taste sweeter than the ones they'd shared for some reason.
Don't worry Callisto, at least one person appreciates the effort put into this. ]
You know, they aren't going to see this until the afternoon. Those swords are sitting there until half past twelve at minimum, but once Siffrin has confusedly made their way to the door--
(Oh!
...
This... is a little bit of a different form than you thought it'd be, but...) ]
So that's where she is tonight. Of course she wouldn't come, but... it's nice to know her location anyway. There won't be words in reply either, but she does get a sticker. ]
[ Enjoy a sudden photo of some close-up shots of an incredibly large and adorably pudgy Akita dog. It is a good boy, don't be mistaken. It's tail must be wagging so fast because it's such a blur in some of these pictures. ]
[ A few days after they start their rooming arrangement--
Siffrin will wake up to a banana on Elysium's desk. Just a banana. It probably wouldn't be a strange sight if Elysium actually had things on the top of it regularly outside of papers and pens, but even those have been put away as if to draw more attention to it.
… Given that he doesn't spend much if any time whatsoever outside of sleeping hours inside his room, it's probably the first and only food item Siffrin will find around these parts.
[ (You feel so nauseous you almost lose your midnight snacks on Elysium's floor.
Almost. You can't stand the sight of it though, so--)
Siffrin sets Elysium's blanket on top of it, a small lump on top of the desk, and leaves to go find something they can actually stomach.
... That said, there will be a small bag of sunflower seeds on Elysium's nightstand when he returns at some point, as if Siffrin had been snacking and just left it there thoughtlessly. No passive-aggressive note yet, just passive-aggressive snack. ]
[ Placed in Siffrin's empty room is a bronze sheet. Yes, it's a week later. Yes, she maybe did actually take an additional class, just in case. Yes, maybe it took a lot of work to get this done.
It's fine.
She doesn't send Siffrin a message or anything, but there's a note left on top of the sheet. The handwriting is legible.
there comes a thumping noise... from the outside. a heavy panting deep in the fog that even a moon won't illuminate. from an animal, maybe?
there are plenty of those around here, but it's hard to tell at first.
whether it's heard while taking a breather or from inside the wooden home you've been staying at is up to you, 'cause i don't know the extent of siff's abilities, and... yeah. 👍 )
[ Siffrin's got some pretty keen hearing, don't worry, but it's from outside... that is, from the roof of the house, where they've taken to watching the sky and thinking over whatever Elysium had last sent them. The promise of same hour, every night rings dully in their ears.
Until the panting stills their thoughts and they sit up, silently and slowly. Drop down off the back just the same. Not a sound is made as Siffrin turns their head, trying to pinpoint where it might be coming from, and working out quickly if it's a man or a beast.
Beasts didn't come too close here. They were farther off. That was apparent from their travel to this village in the first place. But that didn't mean it was a safe human being either. Especially with the danger that feels to be surrounding them now.
(You breathe in, and out.)
Knowing they're more than likely to make a beeline just ahead, the traveler opts to tread without a rustle more parallel to the noise, once described panther-like by his party compared to the scurrying fox of before. Experience had eased a lot, both a good and bad thing. Blade out and ready just in case, tense ready to spring.
[ it's very brief, sent some time after Elysium had given her the update and she'd followed the coordinates with a tightness in her throat she didn't particularly enjoy, but.
[ ... Hours, maybe, later. It's finally read. The words make Siffrin sick, and they close their eye as residual pain aches their body. At least they're alive, after a time where they didn't think they would be. ]
How have you been faring? As much as I would like to remain at your side, I did have a couple of things to take care of as of late. Moreover, it cannot be denied that your presence appeared deeply desired by others, as well. It would hardly be fitting for someone as magnanimous as I to not permit them to see your face in such instances.
Once we are back at base, I shall be requesting your presence once more. As mentioned, I had desired to reward you generously, had I not? While many things have gone awry, I could hardly leave your wishes unfulfilled.
[ Following the Christmas party, Siffrin will discover a sizable package waiting by their door. Perhaps the sweet aroma wafting from it will catch their attention long before they spot it, as the majority of its contents are freshly baked.
Inside, they’ll find an assortment of festive treats: a variety of different cookies in tiny chocolate bûches de Noël, peppermint and gingerbread cookies, a three-bite apple tart, a jellied doughnut, and an array of candied fruits. A tiny note is nestled into the middle of the box, and along with it sits a small origami snake. It even has a little red Santa hat.
There’s a certain someone who’s been struggling to find the words to apologise to you with. Time doesn’t heal everything… but at the end of the day, all we have is each other. And, who knows how much time any of us have left? Let’s not regret any more than we already have.
[ on the eve, siffrin will be greeted with a neat gift sitting outside of his door. considering the ostentatious wrapping and the colors of dark red and gold, it's fairly easy to see who the sender is, regardless, it does come with a letter attached.
Sir Siffrin,
Who knew that in this day and age paper products would still be as difficult as ever to obtain. You would think people's minds would run out of space first. That aside, I hope you will use these items well. In particular, I would be delighted to be the recipient of your heartfelt letters. I have no doubt they will be as sincere and genuine as you are.

inside the box will contain a letter set with a very fancy quill that has a gem similar to the one for his brooch. ]
[ Siffrin receives a parcel containing a pair of warm gloves, labeled For Siffrin, from Yesod. Their time during the mission in Transylvania was appreciated. ]
@hottie, text; first... gasp
Given that: ]
With the weather how it is, the amusement park here's probably a no go for a while
Wanna try experiencing one from my memories?
That way, you can save the one here for someone you'd really want to invite for the next time
I think it's a win-win
gasps...
